4×6 Paper
The best sources for 4×6 paper at the cheapest prices on the Internet.
Paper is not something that we often sit around and think about at length. However, when it comes to photography paper there is a lot to consider.
4×6 paper is of a size that is very important if you’re going to be printing lots of photographs. After all, you want paper that fits the ratio of the size of the picture and fits in your existing photo albums and picture collections.
They are also a really great size to use to post to friends and relatives and make post cards out of.
Regardless of your photo printer make or model, they will all work with all 4×6 paper that is on the market today. There are however a great many different types of paper available that all vary in quality in some respect, which can confuse the issue of what to buy, also the prices fluctuate wildly.
What does this mean for your paper choice? The main key points in your choice are the price, the finish and how long the photo will last.
4×6 paper can vary in price, but the best option by far is to always buy in bulk. The more expensive packs only contain 10 sheets of paper, but you can buy up to 1000 sheets at a time, with dramatic savings. These packs are also ideal if you’re going to be printing a lot of photos, and lets be honest, who isn’t?!
You can get paper in one of two finishes, matt or gloss. The gloss finish has the shiny coat that we all associate with typical photos that you used to get developed, so this finish will go well with your existing photo albums. The matt finish does not have the shiny coat and is more reserved for artists looking for that particular finish in their work, I do not recommend this finish for the casual photographer.
There are several online printing services where you can send your pictures via a web form who will print and post your photos to you. They will offer several sizes of paper, including 4×6 paper and 8×10, but if you’re going to be printing a lot of photos and need results fast, the best and cheapest option will always be to buy your own printer and your own paper, that way any time of the day or night you can get great results fast.
Try and avoid the thinner types of paper if you can, they are less robust and resistant to wear, the thicker paper will last longer.
Different types of paper will last different lengths of time, the more expensive higher quality Lexmark 4×6 paper will last up to 100 years, whilst other cheaper knock offs will only last a few months before the image quality starts to suffer.
Of course, you also do not want to use an envelope that is too large because the item inside will then move around and have a greater chance of being damaged. Plus, it just doesn’t look as nice and professional if you mail something in an envelope which is oversized for the item inside.
4×6 paper is also the perfect size for envelopes and postcards. You can affix the stamp to the back and write on it, creating a unique and memorable postcard for friends or simply slip it safely inside an envelope and post it.
If you will be mailing out photo greeting cards, 4 x 6 paper are a great way to do that. You might choose to create photo cards that are just a little bit smaller than the envelope so that they won’t be tightly squeezed into it. Make sure to purchase the kind that suit your circumstances whether it is self sticking or even a flap style on the back.
4×6 paper is particularly suitable for wedding invitations, who couldn’t resist a heart warming photo of the happy couple? And combined with a photo editor, you can add your own personal greeting and boarder to the front!
More and more today people are sending a photo invitations, and for this they are absolutely the perfect size.
